The National Guard is turning 382 years old!!!  On December 13, 1636, all able-bodied men between 16 and 60 years formed the National Guard.  Initially, in 1636 the servicemen protected Massachusetts Bay only.  However, today the personnel (men and women) defends both state and nation.  Also, they deploy overseas to handle natural disasters in the assistance of friends and neighbors.

These men and women are not just weekend warriors.  They are made up of the Army and Air National Guards.  Their training happens two days out of a month.  Also, longer training is yearly.  This military branch is not a full-time job.  However, it requires commitment, sacrifice, and readiness to join our active-duty forces at a moments notice.
